OCEAN LEGACY PHOTO CHALLENGE

The Coral Triangle Center seeks submissions from young people aged 17-30 which illustrate the theme of โ€œHuman Actions Inspiring Ocean Conservationโ€.

Photos should express ideas linked to ocean and coastal conservation.

Participants must submit their photos along with a short narrative exploring the importance of the oceans to humanity, and the ways humans and nature can live in harmony.

The photography competition is designed to raise awareness on marine conservation efforts.

The winner will have their work exhibited and become one of the awardees at the upcoming CTC Ocean Legacy Awards Night, to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

Who can join?

  1. Participants must be between 17-30 years old and agree to the Instagram terms of use
  2. Participants must be based in Bali
  3. The contest is open to entrants of all skill levels

What photos are accepted?

  1. Submitted photo must be an original image
  2. Photographs must be accompanied by a narrative related to the theme โ€œHuman Actions Inspiring Ocean Conservationโ€.
  3. Photos must be taken within the Coral Triangle region (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands)
  4. No watermarks on the image
  5. Minor photo editing only is allowed (brightness, contrast, cropping)
  6. The narrative must be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia, and be between 1000-2000 characters long
  7. By joining the contest, submitted photos permit the organisers to feature it on CTCโ€™s social media and in any and all media deemed relevant

How to join?

  1. The photo should be uploaded to the participantโ€™s instagram, and the narrative posted as the caption
  2. When posting their photo to Instagram, participants must follow and tag Coral Triangle Centerโ€™s Instagram accounts (@coraltrianglecenter and @savingoceansnow) and these five hashtags: #coraltrianglecenter #ctc10thanniversary #oceanlegacy #marineconservation #inspiringpeoplesavingoceans. Any additional hashtags are allowed
  3. Photo and narrative should also be submitted to the committeeโ€™s email: info@coraltrianglecenter.org
  4. Entries must be saved in jpeg format. Please limit your images to a maximum file size of 10MB
  5. Participants can submit more than one photo and narrative
  6. The photo should be submitted before 22nd November 2019, 23.59 (GMT+8)

What are the criteria for judging?

  1. 25 points for inspirational narrative
  2. 25 points for composition of the photo
  3. 25 points for relevance to the theme and number of likes on the Instagram post
  4. 25 points for overall creativity and originality

When is the winner announced?

The winning photo will be awarded and displayed at the Ocean Legacy Awards Night, November 29, 2019, at the CTC Center for Marine Conservation in Bali
